Hang Up on “Back Tax” Calls!

March Madness is here. ‘Tis the season when tax scammers double their efforts with threatening, urgent, and official-sounding calls to steal your money and personal information. (Did you think I was going to talk about basketball?) Here is a short list of the most important things to remember:

If you do receive one of these calls, to take a breath. They want to make you panic. Sometimes, they will even leave a voicemail saying that it’s their final attempt to reach you. If the IRS does indeed have a real issue with your taxes, they will contact you via mail.

Be vigilant and keep your wallet and personal information safe this tax season!
